Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has told SkySports that he was shocked to be offered the opportunity to sign Serbian international Nemanja Matic from his former side Chelsea for Manchester United in the summer transfer window.
The midfielder joined the Red Devils in July after he was deemed to be surplus to requirements at the Bridge by Italian tactician Antonio Conte.
The transfer came as a big surprise to many football fans because the Serbian had just played a major role in helping the Blues to win the English Premier League title under the Italian last season.
The 29-year-old has slotted pretty well into the first team at Old Trafford and has started all 10 matches for United this season.
He will be expected to feature for United when they return to English Premier League duty with a crucial tie against the Premier League Champions at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
And former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has now disclosed how Matic’s move to Old Trafford from Chelsea happened.
United head into their encounter with Conte’s men in second place in the League, and five points behind runaway leaders Manchester City after 10 matches.
The Blues, meanwhile, are fourth on the Log, and nine points behind Pep Guardiola’s team.
