The former Arsenal playmaker has found his first-team opportunities to be few and far between this current term but repaid Conte’s faith in him when restored to the starting line-up against Swansea City on Saturday.
And the 29-year-old paid tribute to Arsene Wenger and current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho as he reflected on the milestone on Saturday after the game.
Fabregas speaking to Chelsea’s website said:
“To be honest, I feel humbled and very proud.
“I’ve worked very hard to make it to 300 and all I can say is thank you to everyone who has helped me reach this mark – to Arsenal, to Chelsea, to Arsene Wenger, Mourinho, Hiddink and Antonio.
“Obviously thanks goes to all the fans who support me, my family and friends as well.
“It has been many years, although it doesn’t feel like it, it feels like it was yesterday, but it’s been a long journey and hopefully it will be an even longer one.’
The west London club won Swansea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge and has moved 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
