Premier League title holders Chelsea remain keen on signing Inter Millan striker Mauro Icardi this summer as the Blues have reportedly tabled a £55m contract offer for his signature according to reports.
The Argentine striker is also being tracked by Spanish giants Real Madrid as Zidane hopes to bolster his attacking threat in the summer so as to reclaim the La Liga title next season.
Just as Zidane, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is also aiming to add more quality to his attacking department ahead of next season after seeing Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud both failed to live up to fan’s expectations throughout this season.
Icari is in blistering form for Serie A giants Inter Milan this term, scoring 22 goals in just 26 matches for the Amazzuris and that has endeared him to the two European clubs.
According to Italian media outlet AS, The Blues are leading the race for Icardi as they have officially tabled an offer for his service.
The sports journal also reported that Chelsea’s £55m offer might be rejected by Milan who are reportedly hoping to receive a whopping sum of £96m from his suitors due to the release clause present in his contract with the San Siro outfits.
Should the 25-year-old attacker join Chelsea in the summer, the Argentine will need to compete with Alvaro Morata for a place as the Blues leading striker or Antonio Conte will switch to new tactics which will give room for two centre forwards.
