chelsea plan on bringing Craig Gordon

Chelsea are lining up a surprise swoop for Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon, according to reports.

The Blues are preparing for the departure of second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic who is a subject of interest from Bournemouth who tabled an initial £10 million bid and has now come back with an improved offer which could force Chelsea’s hands to sell the Bosnia international this January.

Reports in Italian outlet, Calciomercato suggests the Blues have shifted their gaze on Gordon to replace Begovic at the Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old shot keeper joined Celtic in 2014 from Sunderland and remained in between the sticks for the Scottish side, making 33 appearances this season.

Reports in the Telegraph claim that Chelsea have drafted a three-man shortlist of goalkeepers to replace Begovic and it is understood that AC Milan goalkeeper, Diego Lopez and Galatasaray number one Fernando Muslera as other options.

Chelsea number one, Thibaut Courtois is said to be keen on a summer move to Real Madrid and has told his representatives to thrash out a deal having met with Real president Florentina Perez last year to have initial talks regarding a potential move.

Prior reports also claim that Newscastle keeper Tim Krul is also being considered as a potential replacement for the outbound Begovic.
