Liverpool given positive news as German midfielder Max Meyer is finally set to join the Reds
Liverpool are in the move for German midfielder Max Meyer on a free transfer this summer.
The Merseyside have just received a major boost in their race to sign the player for free as the midfielder has reportedly refused to extend his contract with Schalke.
According to reports via Sport Bild, Meyer’s representative has failed to turn up for a meeting with the club’s sporting director where they are believed to discuss a new deal for the Germany international.
Having cancelled the proposed meeting, it could be certain that the player has made up his mind to leave the Bundesliga side this summer as a Free Agent.
While speaking to German media outlet BILD, Schalke’s President Clemens Tonnies revealed that he was supposed to have a meeting with the player and his agent but they decided to make a last-minute change by cancelling the meeting.
With this report, Liverpool will hope to beat Arsenal to the player’s signature as the Gunners are the only Premier League club who are also keeping a close watch on the player’s situation.
