Chelsea have launched an audacious bid to sign Rennes defender Joris Gnagnon this summer transfer window, according to reports.
The 20-year-old defender has had a brilliant performer in the Ligue 1 side this term making 38 appearances since he broke into the first-team in 2016, drawing transfer speculations from several clubs in the Premier League.
Reports in the SFR Sport suggest that Chelsea are leading in the pursuit of Gnagnon and have started talks with regards to a potential move to Stamford Bridge next season.
There are speculations that the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, Porto, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea all linked with moves for the defender.
Spanish side, Sevilla have also been credited with an interest in Gnagnon with reports that they lodged an £11million during the last January window which was rejected by Rennes.
It is understood that the 20-year-old is also keen on leaving Rennes this summer but will not force a move out of the club due to his loyalty to the Ligue 1 side.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is understood to be interested in signing a defender to replace John Terry who has left the club after many years of being their skipper, leading them to a number of titles during his stay.
