North London club Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with La Liga giants Barcelona in the bid to sign Brazilian winger Malcom in the current January transfer window.

This is according to the publication from Spanish media portal Sport.

It was revealed that Spurs want to boost their forward options following the loss of England national team skipper Harry Kane and South Korean star Son Heung-Min to injury and country assignment respectively.

Son will be on national team duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup from now till next month, while Harry Kane has been ruled out till March after suffering an ankle injury during last weekend’s 1-0 home defeat to in-form Manchester United.

Kane sustained the unfortunate injury in the dying minutes of the game that was decided by a first-half strike from Marcus Rashford.

Malcom has previously been linked with a transfer to the Premier League with clubs like Arsenal, Manchester United and league leaders Liverpool mentioned.

Barcelona winger Malcom could plug the gap left by the aforementioned Tottenham duo.

The young Brazilian has failed to make an impact at the Nou Camp since his transfer to Spain from French Ligue 1 side Bordeaux at the start of the season.

The 21-year-old was on course to secure a transfer to Italian Serie A club AS Roma before Barcelona hijacked the move in a £38m deal.
