West London giants Chelsea boosted their chances of finishing in the Premier League top-four following their convincing win over Brighton on Wednesday night.

The Blues thrashed Brighton 3-0 at home to close in on the top-four teams.

Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all on target for the home side while England international youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi was impressive on his first Premier League start for the West Londoners.

His cross led to the first goal for French World Cup winner Giroud on the half-hour mark after the Seagulls had frustrated Chelsea for the first thirty minutes of the game.

Eyebrows were raised when star player Eden Hazard was benched for the weekend’s league game at Cardiff City and he showed why he should be starting after the Belgian international scored the second goal on the hour mark off an assist from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Chelsea Academy graduate Loftus-Cheek graduated from provider to goalscorer three minutes later when he added a superb third goal for Chelsea and almost similar to the second goal scored by the aforementioned Hazard.

Loftus-Cheek has now scored two goals in two games after he netted the winning goal at the weekend during the 2-1 comeback win over hosts Cardiff City.

The win over Brighton takes Chelsea above Manchester United into fifth place and level on points with London rivals Arsenal in fourth place.
