Nikola Milenkovic

Manchester United are looking serious in their bid for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic following reports that the club officials have been asked to go watch the player and return with a report.

United had a slow start of the season and that has landed them on the eight spot in the Premier League table with manager Jose Mourinho blaming the lack of quality defenders for his woes.

It would be recalled that the Portuguese manager predicted a difficult season for his side in the summer transfer after his wish to recruit additional legs failed to come alive.

The Red Devils are not only having their worst start of the season in many years, but they also conceded a total of 21 goals in their first 12 games more than any of the big sides in the league.

Jose Mourinho will welcome the addition of Nikola Milenkovic to the team who has a fee tag at about £50 million in the second half of the season.

Nikola Milenkovic is one of Europe’s young defender and that has been a factor the Red Devils have considered before asking the club officials to scout him this weekend.

However, Mourinho will hope to continue the push for a Premier League top four finish so as to gain a Champions League promotion for next season.
