Emerging reports state that Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been cleared to secure to the signature of Tottenham central defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Sun report that the Portuguese boss will now have the boost of the player he wished to have signed last summer a meeting was held between Jose Mourinho, Toby Alderweireld’s agent Jorge Mendes and United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, last week.
The refusal of the executive vice-chairman to sanction the deal for Toby Alderweireld who was Mourinho’s top target in the summer resulted in a rift between the duo with the manager predicting that his side will find the season difficult for failing to sign the Tottenham man.
However, the former Chelsea boss will now have his wish ahead of the winter transfer window with Toby Alderweireld as they wish to change the fate of the club in the second half of the season.
The United boss has been particular of his defenders, hinting that the department have been the reason behind his side’s woes this season and he was looking forward to changing it.
There is no doubt that with the latest development, Mourinho will be handed enough funds to storm the winter transfer window for more additions.
