Arsene Wenger To ‘Shatter’ Club Record With £50million Improved Bid

Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal are prepared to ‘shatter their transfer record’ with a £50million move for Lyon forward, Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports.

The Gunners have been monitoring the transfer situation of the Frenchman due to reports suggesting that the striker was keen on leaving his club this summer.

Lacazette was a subject of transfer interest for La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid but the deal was scuppered by the transfer ban that restricts Atleti from registering players till the January transfer window leaving Arsenal to have a freeway to signing Lacazette.

The 26-year-old has been a long-term target for Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger who has tried to sign him during the last summer window with a £29million bid, but the move was rejected by Lyon.

Reports in reliable French outlet, L’Equipe claim that Lacazette is open to the idea of playing in the Premier League and the Gunners are the only club offering him the chance to play in England.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are ”close to completing the Lacazette deal”, and a fee has been agreed and he just has to “have medical and finalise terms”.

Arsene Wenger is said to be preparing for life after the departure of Alexis Sanchez who has been tipped to leave the Emirates this summer after refusing to agree on a new contract extension.
