According to British media reports, Arsenal have submitted a fresh cash-plus-player offer to secure the signature of defender Jonny Evans from West Bromwich Albion including Frenchman Mathieu Debuchy.
Cash plus-player deal
The Daily Star is claiming that Arsenal have made a fresh bid for the 30-year-old including £10million and Debuchy in an offer to try and lure West Brom into selling this month.
The same article says that league leaders Manchester City were also tracking the defender but have now looked to have shifted their focus towards landing Aymeric Laporte instead.
Relegation clause
The story also suggests that Evans has a relegation clause inserted in his current deal with his club, meaning that he could depart the club for as little as £3million if they go down this campaign.
The Northern Ireland international central defender has only 18 months remaining on his deal with the club after having signed for them from Premier League side Manchester United in 2015.
The same article also cites West Brom manager Alan Pardew, who claims that the side’s financial condition is very tight and that shows a deal could happen.
Meanwhile, Arsenal playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan could make his Gunners debut for his new side when they lock horns with Swansea in the League on Tuesday.
