Chelsea Italian manager Antonio Conte has eventually won Manager of the Year at the London Football Awards.

Considering how impressive the Italian has been this season, the award could be seen as what could be the first of many honours this season.

In his first year at Stamford Bridge, Antonio Conte successfully beat Tottenham coach Mauriccio Pochettino, Fulham’s boss Slavisa Jokanovic, Neil Harris of Millwall and AFC Wimbledon’s Neal Ardley to the award. Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger and West Ham’s boss Slaven Bilic were not short-listed

The win for the former Juventus boss comes as little surprise considering the remarkable turnaround at Chelsea the boss has overseen.

Chelsea are currently 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table having finished 10th in the table last term. The former Juventus head manager has been quick to show himself a shrewd tactician and made himself popular with Chelsea supporters with his ‘crazy’ touchline antics.

Antonio Conte: These Two Chelsea Players Are Among The Best In The World

The Chelsea boss has hailed the form of both Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses due to their brilliant displays for Chelsea this season.

Nigerian international Victor Moses has been one of Chelsea’s most consistent players after making the wing-back role his own in recent months under the new manager at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta too has been equally as impressive for Chelsea having continued his brilliant performances from recent seasons this term.

And Antonio Conte has been delighted by the form of both of his wing-backs in recent weeks for Chelsea.

Conte speaking to the London Evening Standard revealed that the 3-5-2 system was in his mind when they planned the season with the club.

“We have two systems 4-2-4 and 3-4-3. When I switched this system, I felt it was a good fit for our players.

“We don’t lose offensively but we are better defensively.

“We found players not to adapt but to play in different roles compared to the past.

“Like Moses and Azpi – he’s incredible in this new role. He is one of the best in the world in this role.

“Moses too. To run for the whole game with this quality is fantastic.”

Conte, having picked up the Manager Of The Year Award (which was based solely on this season), must return his focus to his side’s next premier league game, which is against West Ham on Monday night.
