Arsenal are considering a summer swoop for Schalke midfielder, Leon Gorentzka, according to reports.
The Gunners are the first clubs to be linked with a move for the Germany international this summer, with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid both credited with an interest in the midfielder.
Reports in the Daily Express have it that Arsenal are preparing to launch a £21million bid for Goretka.
The 22-year-old midfielder is currently on national team duties with Germany at the Confederations Cup in Russia where he has showed his impressive displays, netting an important goal to help the German side beat Australia.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Schalke this window, with reports that several clubs in Europe, including Bayern Munich are considering an offer for the player.
However, there are reports that Arsenal have moved ahead of other rivals by tabling a £21million bid for Goretzka whose current contract at the Bundesliga outfit ends next season.
Although, Schalke general manager had earlier claimed that the midfielder is not for sale this summer despite his contract situation, leaving the club with the risk of losing him for free next summer if they fail to tie to a new deal.
Leon Goretzka has been a key figure for the German club, scoring 8 goals and 6 assists in 41 appearances during the last campaign.
