Arsenal are plotting an audacious move for AS Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe this summer, according to reports.
The French star has been a key performer for the Ligue 1 champions, drawing interest from a number of clubs in Europe, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Sidibe is regarded as one of the best in his position due to his versatility to play both left-back and right-back positions where he had impressed with the previous club, Lille before joining Monaco last summer.
Reports in reliable French outlet, L’Equipe claim that Arsenal have returned for Sidibe’s signature, having failed to sign him last summer, which the defender also confirmed, saying: ‘I was on the brink (of signing for Monaco) and (Arsenal) gave me a headache by making a bid at the last moment.
The 24-year-old however, revealed that he could fancy a move to the Premier League in near future, boosting Arsenal’s chances of signing him, he said: ‘I chose to stay in Ligue 1 and then leave for the Premier League next year because it is a competition that greatly appeals to me.’
Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen on adding quality targets to his current squad after being given the mandate to re-invent himself at the Emirates.
