Arsenal tactician Arsene Wenger has admitted contract negotiations with Germany international Mesut Ozil have stalled in recent weeks

The German’s contract situation at the North London club has been documented over the year, along with that of Chilean Alexis Sanchez.

Both players’ current contract expires at the end of this campaign and can engage in pre-contract talks with suitors in January.

Chile international Alexis Sanchez will reportedly see out the remainder of his current deal, with rivals Manchester City frontrunners to make a transfer move after having an offer turned down on transfer deadline day.

Mesut Ozil’s plans for the future is not very clear, but according to reports in Germany this week, negotiations over a new contract have hit the rock since February.

It was reported the German is ready to walk away from Emirates Stadium after four remarkable years at the North London club.

But the French tactician denied the duration since contract talks were discussed with the Germany international and is optimistic both camp will reach a compromise.

The Arsenal manager said, “Yes, of course, I (Arsene Wenger) am hopeful.”

The Gunners get their UEFA Europa League campaign underway Thursday night when they play host to Cologne.
