Chelsea and Liverpool target Faouzi Ghoulam has now put pen on paper for a new deal with Napoli that will extend his stay at the Serie A club.
And of course, the news will be a sad one for the two premier league clubs, as both are understood to be interested in getting his signature.
The talented player joined the Italian side back in 2014 and has made 151 appearances for the club. However, he has been strongly linked with a move away from Napoli ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, with the premier league duo of Chelsea and Liverpool understood to be keen on signing in.
There were reports back in October that Jurgen Klopp’s side have made an approach for the 26-year-old star, but they were instantly rejected by his club.
It was also said that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been keeping tabs on the Algerian defender, alongside Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola.
However, the Serie A outfit announced on Tuesday that Ghoulam had signed a new deal with them that will expire in 2022.
The African player’s previous contract at Napoli was meant to expire next June, and there were speculations that he is bound to leave the club next summer.
Liverpool will now put their attention on some other players, as well as Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
