According to a report by The Daily Mirror, both North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are prepared to make their approach for Leicester attacker Riyad Mahrez in the winter.
Riyad Mahrez has been a brilliant sensation at Leicester, one of the players who performed excellently well in their Premier League triumph two seasons ago. Now he’s been pursued by title contenders.
The Mirror claim arch-rivals Spurs and Arsenal are looking to sign the right-winger, who is rated at £30million.
With the futures of Chile star Alexis Sanchez and German Mesut Ozil in doubt, the North Londoners are especially interested in signing the player, as per the paper.
The Algerian was one of the catalysts for Leicester City’s surprise title triumph. That Premier League season, the African scored 17 League goals, including 10 assists.
While the attacker struggled to repeat that form last season, he did still reach double figures for goals last term in all competitions and made another seven assists. In a struggling team, those are good figures.
His form in the Champions League perhaps points to a footballer ready to make the step up to either London side, who are both seeking to progress into the knockout stages of European football this campaign.
The forward was instrumental in Leicester’s run to the quarter-final of the top competition and could perhaps make the perfect winter boost to a side with continental ambitions.
