Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has called on Chelsea to splash the cash on West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic.
The Austrian international player has had to adapt his game to a striking role since he joined the Hammers from Stoke City at the start of last season.
Footballer turned pundit Paul Merson told the Daily Star that Chelsea will be a better team with Marko Arnautovic in their ranks and that a £40m bid would be enough to convince the Hammers to sell.
Marko Arnautovic has scored seven goals for West Ham United in 15 Premier League games this season.
Merson believes Arnautovic would be a better fit for Chelsea than Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
Transfer rumours of a move to Chelsea for England international Callum Wilson have intensified in the last 24 hours following the Cherries’ acquisition of a striker.
Bournemouth have signed Dominic Solanke from Liverpool in a deal reported to be around £19m and many believe that the young English striker may have been signed as a replacement for Callum Wilson.
Wilson has been in great form this season netting nine goals and providing five assists in the Premier League this season.
He also made his debut for the England national team earlier this season.
