According to reports, North London giant Arsenal are considering cashing in on Chile international forward Alexis Sanchez to Spanish la Liga side Real Madrid in the January transfer window rather than lose him to Premier League rivals Manchester City for nothing.
The Chilean’s Arsenal deal expires in the summer and he would be free to hold negotiations with any foreign suitors in the New Year ahead of leaving for nothing. However, Sanchez did have an interest in signing for Manchester City last summer and he could opt to wait until the end of the current season before coming to terms on any transfer in order to possibly seal a move to Manchester.
European Champions Real Madrid are currently having, by their own standards, a poor campaign and signing Alexis Sanchez could be a massive boost to them.
The Gunners need to make a decision whether they are glad to let the 28-year-old depart the club for nothing or if they’d rather sell and make sure that he is sold to a club in another league division.
The two options come with advantages and disadvantages, and of course, Alexis Sanchez himself would still need to sanction the move, so the next couple of months will be interesting.
