Liverpool defender and Spain international, Alberto Moreno has been in a contract extension discussion with Liverpool for a while, however, a new report from the Mirror has confirmed that Liverpool have refused to reach an agreement with the player.
Alberto Moreno’s current contract will expire at the end of this season but Liverpool’s refusal to give him a contract extension means he will be a free agent at the end of the season.
The report added that the Reds will allow him a free hand to negotiate deals with foreign clubs from the 1st of January, 2019.
Alberto Moreno, 26, lost his place in the Reds first eleven to Andy Robertson following a long-term injury.
The Spanish defender has featured in only one game this season which was the Carabao League match against Chelsea.
However, his departure will give room for Liverpool youngster, Adam Lewis to play in the senior team.
Alberto Moreno made 27 appearances last season before he sustained an injury, he has however made a total of 137 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions.
The Spanish player will be the second player to leave Liverpool in a long time on a free transfer after Emre Can move to the Italian club, Juventus in the summer transfer window.
