Chelsea who have attempted the most shots in the Europa League thus far (73) while conceding the least in the competition (15) will be set to unleash their firepower on Bate Borisov tonight as coach Sarri has given a tip on what is starting eleven will look like.
The Chelsea boss will be looking to rest key players for the weekend matchup against Everton. Ruben Loftus-Cheek was the hero last time out against BATE Borisov and deserves to start as Olivier Giroud is expected to return to action .
A possible defensive pairing of Gary Cahill, Andreas Christensen and Emerson Palmieri, with Davide Zappacosta rounding out the defence will most likely be on display tonight as the coach as rested David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Marcos Alonso ahead of Sunday’s clash with Everton.
Cesc Fabregas has flu and will most likely not feature against BATE Borisov. Jorginho should be the obvious choice, especially with Ampadu doubtful as well.
They are insinuations that Sarri might pair Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante in midfield, something that will not be according to his philosophy.
Olivier Giroud is an undisputed starter, with Pedro guaranteed also to start after his impressive performances recently. The other spot should go to Willian, with Eden Hazard likely to come on to get some minutes under his belt before the tie against Everton while Alvaro Morata is rested for the tie.
Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Caballero; Zappacosta, Cahill, Christensen, Emerson; Loftus-Cheek, Kante, Kovacic; Pedro, Giroud, Willian
For Bate Borisov , Vladislav Malkovich and Vladislav Mukhamedov are sidelined for the fixture. Apart from that, we should see BATE Borisov retain their entire back four. Aleksey Rios, Aleksandar Filipovic, Egor Filipenko and Maksim Volodjko will make up the defence.
Interestingly, BATE Borisov are expected to be more expressive than they were at Stamford Bridge. Thus, the home side might deploy a 4-3-3 formation.
Probable Lineup (4-3-3): Scherbitskiy; Rios, Filipovic, Filipenko, Volodjko; Baga, Dragun, Hleb; Skavysh, Signevich, Stasevich.
Chelsea Target Is Top-Six Material – Club Legend
Former Crystal Palace midfielder Shaun Derry is sure that Eagles right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has the quality to play for a top-six team in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace legend Derry told Express Sport that both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Wilfried Zaha can play for a big club in the Premier League.
Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a remarkable rise at Selhurst Park this season in what’s his first campaign as a Premier League footballer.
The 21-year-old broke into the first team at the start of this season and he has not looked back since then.
He has usurped former first choice right-back Joel Ward as the Eagles’ undisputed first choice right-back.
His form has not gone unnoticed with the major Premier League sides.
Top-six teams like Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have registered their interest in him.
Recent reports claim that Chelsea and other interested parties will have to spend as much as £40m to prise him away from Crystal Palace in the summer.
Wilfried Zaha has previously played for a top-six team.
The Ivorian international was a Manchester United player for two years between 2013 and 2015 but the winger was unable to live up to his immense potentials at Old Trafford before he returned to Crystal Palace.
Chelsea Target Close To Ending Inter Feud – Agent
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi is close to ending his feud with the club according to his agent and wife Wanda Nara.
His agent was on Canal 5 programme Tiki Taka and she talked about the situation of her client/husband at Inter Milan.
Wanda Nara also confirmed that a meeting has been scheduled between Mauro Icardi and Inter Milan officials for Friday.
Mauro Icardi has been at loggerheads with Inter Milan since he was dropped as the club’s captain thereby leading to intense transfer rumours linking him with a move to other major European clubs.
The Argentine international has been touted as a possible transfer addition for clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea.
Mauro Icardi and Inter Milan could end their feud before the end of this week but that doesn’t stop the player from leaving the club.
The former Barcelona and Sampdoria attacker has an Inter Milan contract that runs until the end of the 2020/21 season.
He has missed the last nine games in all competitions for Inter Milan as a result of his problems at the club.
The Italians have won five of those games and also crashed out of the Europa League to German club Eintracht Frankfurt within that period.
Top-Four Finish Is Possible – Chelsea Defender
Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is adamant that the Blues can finish in the top four places at the end of this current Premier League season despite the latest setback against Everton.
Azpilicueta and Chelsea came unstuck against the Toffees in their Premier League clash at the weekend to dent their top-four hopes.
In his recent interview via Goal, the Spanish international reiterated his belief that the Blues can still make the Champions League next season via the Premier League.
He urged his Chelsea teammates not to concentrate on making Champions League football next season via the Europa League route only.
Chelsea missed out on a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on their rivals for a top-four place on the Premier League table with the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Everton.
The Blues started the game on the front foot but lacked the ruthlessness needed in front of goal as the likes of Pedro and Gonzalo Higuain wasted several opportunities to find the back of the net.
Those first half misses came back to haunt Chelsea after the home team raised their game in the second half.
Everton got their goals in the second half through Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson to seal a much needed victory for their underfire manager Marco Silva.
Chelsea Winger Added To England Squad
Young Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been added to the England squad ahead of their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Montenegro.
The Three Lions of England squad has been hit by several withdrawals prompting the call-up for Hudson-Odoi.
The 18-year-old was initially called up to the England U-21 squad by manager Aidy Boothroyd ahead of the friendly games with Poland and Germany before being elevated to the senior squad on Monday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi expressed his delight at the new development in an interview with the English FA.
England host the Czech Republic at the Wembley Stadium in their first Euro 2020 qualifier before travelling to face Montenegro in their second game of the qualifying series.
Manager Gareth Southgate named a 25-man squad for the aforementioned games only for the trio of Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea) and John Stones (Manchester City) to pull out as a result of injuries.
The withdrawals reduced the England squad to 22 players but the invitation extended to both James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea) has swelled the number of players in camp to 24 players.
Callum Hudson-Odoi has been frustrated at Chelsea due to a lack of playing time and that has prompted the interest of German champions Bayern Munich in him.
Everton Midfielder Hails Fantastic Display vs Chelsea
Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has hailed his team’s fantastic display against Chelsea in their Premier League clash at the weekend.
The Toffees were able to dent Chelsea’s top-four aspirations with a 2-0 win at home.
Senegalese international Gueye was named the Man-of-the-Match for his display against Chelsea.
Gueye tweeted his MotM Award on Monday as he praised the Toffees performance at the Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
Everton secured their first league win at home since January with the victory over Chelsea.
In addition, it was the Toffees’ first league victory over a top-six side in two years since they thrashed Manchester City 4-0.
Chelsea dominated the first half and were unable to convert their chances before Everton showed them the way with two second-half goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
The Blues will have to improve their away form in the Premier League if they want to achieve a top-four spot at the end of this season.
Chelsea have now lost four of their last five away games in the Premier League with just the 2-1 win over West London rivals Fulham to show for their troubles within that period.
Blues boss Maurizio Sarri and his players have a lot of grounds to make up with the Blues still three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
Ex-Chelsea Players Named In Team Of The Week
Two ex-Chelsea players have been named in the Team of the Week for the latest set of games in the Premier League.
Five league games were played for Matchweek 31 due to FA Cup commitments on the part of Premier League clubs but that has not stopped popular media outlet Goal from compiling the list of players for the Team of the Week.
Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice were named on the list.
Ake and Rice were previously on the books at Chelsea.
Nathan Ake had a great game for Bournemouth in their 2-2 home draw against Newcastle United at the weekend.
He made two blocks and had four clearances against the Magpies.
Nathan Ake initially joined Bournemouth from Chelsea on loan at the start of the 2016/17 season before the Cherries paid £20m to secure his transfer from the West London giants permanently in the summer of 2017.
Declan Rice was instrumental to the Hammers’ 4-3 comeback win over bottom team Huddersfield Town.
West Ham United came from two goals down to win the game in the second half.
Rice was a Chelsea player until he was released at the age of 14.
Other players on the list include Jordan Pickford and Seamus Coleman (Everton), Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Joshua King (Bournemouth), Karlan Grant and Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield Town), Wes Morgan and James Maddison (Leicester City),
They Function Like A Five-A-Side Team – Liverpool Legend Rips Into Chelsea
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has slammed Chelsea after their disappointing 2-0 defeat to Everton in their Premier League clash on Sunday evening.
Everton secured their first league win at home in over two months with an impressive victory over Champions League-chasing Chelsea.
The last home win for the Toffees was in January against South Coast club Bournemouth.
Everton were buoyed by a timid second-half performance from Chelsea with Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson getting the goals for the Toffees just after the halftime interval.
Reacting to the poor display from Chelsea, former Liverpool midfielder Souness ripped into Maurizio Sarri and his players while he was doing his punditry job on Sky Sports.
According to him, Chelsea played like a five-a-side team as they were dominant in possession without much end result to show for it.
He also pointed out that the Blues are over-reliant on star player Eden Hazard.
Chelsea missed out on the opportunity to stake a claim for a spot in the top four of the Premier League with the poor result against Everton.
A win would have taken the Blues to the same point tally (60) with London rivals Arsenal who occupy the final spot in the Premier League top four.
Chelsea Midfielder Pulls Out Of England Squad
Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has pulled out of the England squad ahead of the upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers with the Czech Republic and Montenegro.
Loftus-Cheek will miss out of the Three Lions’ games after he suffered a knock in Chelsea’s 2-0 loss to Everton in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.
The Chelsea midfielder came on as a second-half substitute in the defeat to the Toffees.
England have been hit with three withdrawals ahead of the aforementioned games.
Apart from Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the Manchester City duo of John Stones and Fabian Delph have also pulled out of the England squad with respective knocks.
Loftus-Cheek, Delph and Stones were all part of the 25-man squad named by England manager Gareth Southgate last week.
The England manager has called up Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse to his team in the wake of the withdrawals.
The England manager has now been trimmed to 23 players as a result of the injury problems.
Ward-Prowse is one of the form players in the Premier League after netting six goals in his last nine games in the competition.
His goals have propelled Southampton to two points clear of the relegation zone in the bid to avoid relegation at the end of the season.
Chelsea Top Four Hopes In Tatters After Everton Win
Chelsea are in serious trouble after their latest Premier League defeat left them with a lot of do in the race for a top-four spot at the end of the season.
The Blues missed out on a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them on the table following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Everton.
Tottenham Hotspur (third), Arsenal (fourth), Manchester United (fifth) and Chelsea (sixth) are all battling for the top four places on the Premier League table with just four points separating the aforementioned four teams.
The top four places will guarantee Champions League football next season.
An away win over Everton would have taken Chelsea to within one point of Tottenham Hotspur in third place and level with the Gunners in fourth place but the Blues missed out on that opportunity.
Chelsea dominated the first half with Star player Eden Hazard hitting the post in the first ten minutes.
The Blues wasted several opportunities in the first half and that came back to haunt them against a rejuvenated Everton side in the second half.
Richarlison gave the Toffees the lead just four minutes into the second half before Gylfi Sigurdsson added a second goal in the 72ND minute after scoring the rebound from his saved penalty.
It was the Toffees’ first league win at home for over two months.
Chelsea Need Higuain To Start Scoring In Top-four Race
Chelsea suffered a dent to their quest to finish in the top four places on the Premier League table after they were beaten 2-0 by Everton.
Merseyside giants Everton won their first home game in over two months with the win over the West Londoners and that highlights the gravity of the poor result recorded by Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and his players.
Chelsea produced a timid second-half performance against Everton and deservedly succumbed to two goals from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Blues’ striker Gonzalo Higuain has been heavily criticised in the fallout of the Everton defeat and rightly so after his largely anonymous performance came early second-half substitution against the Toffees.
Higuain was expected to score the goals that would fire Chelsea to a top-four finish and Champions League football but the Argentine international has failed in that regard.
The 31-year-old joined the Blues on loan from Italian champions Juventus during the winter transfer window and he has scored just three goals in 10 appearances since his move to the club.
His goals have significantly come against the bottom two teams in the Premier League (Fulham and Huddersfield Town).
Chelsea will need to get more out of their star striker in their bid to finish the current Premier League season in the top four places.
