Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised Chelsea over the decision to let striker Michy Batshuayi join fellow London side Crystal Palace before the end of the just concluded January transfer window.

The Reds legend lauded the Blues while he was doing his punditry job on popular English news channel Sky Sports.

Jamie Carragher spoke about Chelsea and Michy Batshuayi during transfer roundup on Sky Sports.

According to him, Chelsea were clever to send the former Marseille player to Selhurst Park with the Eagles still to play the majority of their top four rivals between now and the rest of the season.

Belgian international attacker Batshuayi has joined Crystal Palace on a six-month loan until the summer.

Chelsea are in a keenly contested top-four battle with London rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

Michy Batshuayi is expected to feature for Crystal Palace against both Arsenal and Manchester United in the Premier League before the end of the season.

In addition, Crystal Palace will also face other top-six clubs like Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Batshuayi, 25, has struggled to make an impact at Chelsea since he joined the West Londoners from French Ligue 1 club Marseille in the summer of 2016 in a £35m deal.
