Former Chelsea striker-turned pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank has opined that the January transfer window for Manchester United should be about French midfielder Paul Pogba.
While the Red Devils are yet to secure an addition to this window, they are expected to have some additions with suggestions that some deals are currently being worked upon.
It is also understood that new interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been handed some financial support for this window as he has held discussions with the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward on the need to strengthen the team.
Expectations are that the Red Devils will move in for defensive players, the pundit has stated that a new defensive midfielder should be considered by the Red Devils to help bring the best out of Paul Pogba.
According to him, lesser emphasis should be laid on central defenders as the team would be more solid with good depth with a defensive midfielder to pair with the World Cup winner.
He noted that the former Juventus player is mostly handed free roles in games but that has not been too impactful because he has lacked a defensive option that should provide a cover for him.
However, the Red Devils have been linked with a number of defensive players with some announcements expected in coming days.
