Arsenal have shown interest in Real Betis defender Junior Firpo ahead of the winter transfer window which opens in coming months.
The Gunners team are in dire need of defensive options as they have conceded a lot of goals this season despite scoring more as well.
Pundits have argued that the weakest link in the Gunners team is the defence adding that if nothing is done, it could cost the manager Unai Emery side of their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
However, the Spanish manager is making efforts to have more options by recruiting in the January window but he could now miss out on his long-term target Junior Firpo with the emergence of Manchester City on the list.
Spanish newspapers report that the Junior Firpo’s agent is Pep Guardiola’s brother which is obviously a big advantage to Manchester City and a minus to Arsenal.
Junior Firpo is believed to be a great player having scored two goals and an assist in 11 games for Real Betis as a defender and has got a release clause of £43.5 million.
It is reported that the Gunners boss will not be discouraged as he will go ahead with his bid for the player and ensure he competes financially for the player.
