Arsenal legend, Sol Campbell has pointed the loopholes with the club’s defence lineup.
Campbell said the current Arsenal defence lack certain qualities expected of centre-halves going by the current football pattern obtainable today.
Campbell, 43, retired six years ago after two decades in active football compared what was obtainable in his days with the current Arsenal team is of the opinion that strong-tackling centre-halves are now missing.
He observed that football has really changed with the nature of training for defenders which is different from what was obtainable in his playing days.
Sol Campbell had played under former manager, Arsene Wenger but there is a new face Arsenal, with the arrival Unai Emery in the summer.
Following his arrival at the club, Emery made efforts in securing more defenders, bringing in Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund, Stephan Lichtsteiner, including Goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
The Emery’s defence has however not been convincing enough after conceding eight goals in four games.
With two wins in four games, Emery will be left with no choice than to place more emphasis on the defence to ensure that the team concedes fewer goals.
Arsenal will have another test when they face Newcastle after the International break.
