Mile Svilar has revealed Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku gave him some kind words of encouragement after his error cost his team the match.
Portuguese giant Benfica handed a UEFA Champions League debut to 18-year-old goaltender Mile Svilar last night against the Old Trafford giant but it was an outing to forget for the starlet.
Benfica were drawing goalless with United until the teenager misjudged a Marcus Rashford free-kick and handled it poorly over the line.
The 1-0 loss left Portuguese side rock bottom of Group A with no point and the youngster was visibly disappointed at his outing, being consoled by the Manchester United players after the match.
United striker Romelu Lukaku seemed to take the young goalkeeper under his wing and the safe hand has disclosed he gave him some words of encouragement.
He said Lukaku told him not to worry, and that he should continue to work hard and it will be okay.
The goalkeeper became the youngest safe hand to play in the UEFA Champions League yesterday and despite his error, United manager Jose Mourinho rates highly the teenager.
The Belgium international Under-19 star is under contract with the Portuguese until June 2022 and has played two matches in all competitions this season.
