Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is reportedly on the verge of joining fellow London club Crystal Palace in the summer.

According to the publication from popular English news outlet The Sun, Crystal Palace are lining up a free transfer move for the retired England international centre back.

It was revealed that the former Aston Villa and Bolton Wanderers player could leave Chelsea to join the Eagles on a free transfer in the summer.

Gary Cahill has less than six months left on his current Chelsea deal and it’s almost certain that the Blues won’t offer him a new contract.

He rejected three clubs last month as the experienced defender opted to stay at Chelsea for the entire duration of his Blues contract.

Cahill rejected offers from clubs like Fulham, Juventus and AS Monaco during the winter transfer window which ended on the last day of January.

He could have joined Crystal Palace in January but the move didn’t happen after the Eagles failed to move Scott Dann out of the club.

Gary Cahill was expected to replace Dann who came close to joining struggling Premier League club Fulham.

Ex-Three Lions of England centre back Cahill has been relegated to being the Blues’ fourth-choice defender since Maurizio Sarri became the Chelsea manager last summer.
