According to former Arsenal man Paul Merson, the north London club would have won the Premier League crown by now if they had shown ambition in the transfer market to bring in stars like Luis Suarez and current Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
Merson stated that lots of things needs to be done at the Emirates club if they want to see success on the pitch, and that a sort of arrogance has crawled into the way Arsenal do their things.
Uruguay star player Luis Suarez during his time at Liverpool, was a target for Arsenal, and the Gunners tried to sign him from Liverpool in the summer of 2013. However, they ended up making a mess of everything, and Paul feels if the deal had sailed through, Arsenal would have won the league by now.
Even though the Uruguayan international has since gone on to become a super player at Barcelona, the Arsenal legend regretted why Wenger did not pay for his signature, as he believes a world class striker like Suarez would surely have helped Arsenal win the title.
Arsenal’s talented forward Alexis Sanchez has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent times, and the Chilean international issued out a threat to Arsenal just yesterday.
Sanchez threatened not to sign any new contract at Arsenal until his current one expires and he will move to Chelsea as a free transfer – unless if the management bring in more quality players that can win titles in the club.
