Liverpool have entered the race to sign Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema next summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Frenchman has not been too convincing in the current La Liga season, and has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu with the likes of Arsenal leading the race to sign him next summer.

Arsene Wenger is understood to be a long-term admirer of the 28-year-old and has been tipped to join Arsenal since his days in the Ligue 1 side, Olympique Lyonnais.

Karim Benzema has scored nine goals in the Spanish La Liga this season and Real Madrid are unhappy with his performance so far this season, with reports that the Spanish giants wants to sell the French forward next summer.

Real are ready to splash cash on a top signing in the next summer window, and reports in Don Balon claims that there are almost five offers for Benzema.

The report also have it that the Gunners are ready to lure him to the Emirates with a bumper pay rise but Liverpool are ready to move ahead of their league rivals as Jurgen Klopp continue to search for reinforcements to his current squad.

Real president Florentino Perez is understood to be searching for big signings in the summer transfer window after growing frustrated at the current squad.
