Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wished he had sold Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City for £60 Million last summer.

According to the French boss, ‘if he had his time again’, he would have received big cash for the player’s signature instead of allowing him to secure a move to Old Trafford last month.

Sanchez joined Manchester United in a swap deal that brought Herinkh Mkhitaryan to North London.

Arsene Wenger was interested in seeing the Chilean extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium by putting pen on paper for a new deal. But when it is obvious he could lose the former Barcelona man for nothing at the end of this season, he compromised and pushed him down to Old Trafford – after he refused to sell him to Manchester City last summer.

During the past summer transfer window, manager Pep Guardiola was keen on reuniting Sanchez with him at the Etihad Stadium, and the Spaniard was ready to splash as huge as £60million on the Chilean’s signature. But Arsenal closed the door for the deal after failing to sign Thomas Lemar from Monaco as a replacement for Sanchez.

And according to the Mirror, at a G&A for the club’s executive box holders, Arsene said a mistake was made by not selling the player during the summer transfer window – which was also obvious in his drop of form in the four months that followed.
