For the first time since he became a Blue, summer signing Danny Drinkwater was seen training with the rest of the Chelsea squad on Thursday as Conte’s team prepare for the next big match on the schedule.
Saturday’s game against Watford comes far too soon after Wednesday’s dramatic draw, but there’s nothing Chelsea can do about that than try to recover the squad’s physical and mental condition as much as possible.
The former Leicester City man had resumed light training at the start of this week, but reports claim his full recovery was some weeks away. Notwithstanding, his improving fitness is surely a welcome development even if the midfielder may not be involved just yet ideally, Drinkwater will be good to start next midweek when the Blues face Everton in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea captain Gary Cahill was also seen training after a stitch on the chin after Wednesday’s match.
Unfortunately, it seems Brazilian David Luiz and Senegalese Tiemoue Bakayoko were kept out of the full training session as they try to rehab their minor problems before Saturday’s match. Chelsea faithful’s will need at least one of midfielders Bakayoko, Drinkwater, or Luiz to be fit, otherwise, Spaniard Cesc Fabregas will; have to play the defensive midfield role.
