Matthijs de Ligt

The chances of Manchester United having the signature of Ajax star defender Matthijs de Ligt has become slim with the £60 million bid already submitted by Spanish giants Barcelona according to recent reports.

United were a long-term target for the fantastic defender but seems to have missed out as the reported bid submitted by the Spanish outlet might not be rejected.

Matthijs de Ligt has been a fantastic player for his club and country having built a perfect partnership with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk for their country Netherlands.

As a matter of fact, the Liverpool defender is already dreaming of Matthijs de Ligt having a switch to the Merseyside club so that they can continue the partnership they have had at their country home.

Already Manchester United have sent scouts to have a detailed analysis of Matthijs de Ligt’s performance, strengths and weakness and are reported to be satisfied with the report.

Barcelona are also making efforts to replace Gerard Pique with the 19-year-old as they prepare for his retirement or exit away from the club.

However, the Spanish side are favourites because of the world record fee they are willing to sacrifice to have Matthijs de Ligt’s signature at the Camp Nuo.
