After Monaco sold their star player Bernardo Silva to Manchester City, the French club is set to sell another of their player to Chelsea.
According to reports in France, Tiemoue Bakayoko is on the verge of joining the premier league champions. The Stamford Bridge club are understood to be closing in on a £37 million deal for the defensive midfielder as the Frenchman is due to hold talks with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
Popular French outlet Foot Mercato are reporting that Chelsea are in pole position to get Bakayoko ahead of other rivals like Manchester United and Liverpool. It is understood that the France international will personally speak with Conte before completing his transfer to the West London club.
It was added that the premier league champions have offered the 22-year-old a five-year contract but have yet to fully finalise a fee with his French club.
In a new development, it was revealed that the Blues are now willing to add one of their players Charly Musonda to the deal so as to lower the £37m transfer fee. However, the French Ligue I champions are said to be displeased with their £17m valuation.
Musonda came back to Stamford Bridge last December after his loan spell at La Liga side Real Betis was cut short as a result of his injury. Even though he trained with the first team, he wasn’t opportune to get an appearance under Chelsea’s Italian boss.
