Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United to sign Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon this summer, according to reports.

The 17-year-old defender has been tipped to leave the Craven Cottage this summer after his solid performances drew a lot of attention in the lower division in England, a couple of clubs in the Premier League have been linked with his signature.

Reports in the Telegraph have it that Manchester United have joined the race to sign Sessegnon this summer after Jose Mourinho asked the club to seal a deal for the defender.

But the Red Devils will have to beat the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool to sign the youngster. It is understood that Jose Mourinho rates the defender highly and is keen on adding the player to his current squad.

The 17-year-old has risen to a prominent figure at Fulham, showing real attacking forays, netting five goals and three assists in 26 appearances.

United might be buoyed by the fact that Sessegnon has not signed a professional contract with Fulham, allowing Red Devils pay just £2million since he is not under contract at the Cottage.

Liverpool are also said to be keen on landing the defender this summer, as Jurgen Klopp scouts for viable additions to the left-back positions.
