Chris Sutton: How Man City’s Guardiola Exposed Man United Boss Jose Mourinho
Former Chelsea star player Chris Sutton believes Jose Mourinho’s negative approach is being ‘exposed’ by Man City manager Pep Guardiola this campaign.
The former striker also feels the Spanish tactician is in a ‘different league’ to the Portuguese manager.
Man City sit top of the Premier League – five points clear of Mourinho’s side – after an impressive start to the term where they’ve scored a whopping 32 goals in their opening nine games.
After the United manager chose to play cautiously against Liverpool at Anfield, his side lost to Huddersfield Town during the weekend.
The defeat saw the Old Trafford club slip further behind their Manchester neighbors and adds more pressure to their next premier league game against in-form Tottenham Hotspur.
And Sutton insists Jose has invited pressure upon himself with his tactics at Anfield, and that the former Chelsea manager’s defensive approach will end up costing Manchester United this season.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the former Blackburn striker made it known that the current premier league games have exposed the flaws in Jose Mourinho’s approach.
According to him, using a cautious approach against top sides puts a club under pressure to win every game against lesser opponents, which is in contrast to Guardiola’s mindset which is ‘wholly positive’.
Sutton believes Guardiola will never had settled for a draw at Anfield against Liverpool, considering how his side dominated premier league champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge some weeks back.
