It has been confirmed that Schalke star player Leon Goretzka could spend some weeks away from the pitch after suffering the recurrence of a leg problem.
The new development means Man United‘s hopes of getting his signature in January have been handed a big blow.
Schalke has officially made it known via their official Twitter handle that the 22-year-old will face a series of tests and will be sidelined for some weeks.
“It is unclear as to when Leon [Goretzka] will be fit to train and play once again.” the Bundesliga club announced while wishing him a quick recovery.
The Germany international has been impressive at Schalke and has caught the attention of various top European clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juve and Barcelona.
He will be out of contract at the Bundesliga club next summer, and his future remains unclear – although he promised to make known his decision in January.
The talented player was just coming back from an injury that ruled him out for a month and has played just twice for his side since his return.
He now faces another spell off the pitch, and everyone will hope it won’t be something bad.
Although the German club could try selling him in January, his latest issue would hinder him from passing a medical.
