Ex-Dutch international Ruud Gullit is adamant that Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga undermined the authority of his manager during the Carabao Cup final clash with Manchester City on Sunday evening at the Wembley Stadium.

The former Newcastle United manager disagreed on the account of events given by Blues boss Maurizio Sarri during his post-match conference adding that the Italian manager gave a political answer on his row with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Ruud Gullit discussed Chelsea, Maurizio Sarri and Kepa Arrizabalaga in a chat with popular media portal BBC Sport.

Sarri and Kepa have dominated the football space in the last few hours after the Spanish shot stopper didn’t want to come off for fellow goalkeeper Willy Caballero during the extra time of the game with the Citizens.

Ruud Gullit is of the belief that Maurizio Sarri wanted to introduce ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Caballero to the game ahead of the penalty shootout since he’s familiar with the players on the opposing team.

After the game, Sarri said that Kepa was right not to come off and that the row was a misunderstanding.

Kepa Arrizabalaga stayed on for the penalty shootout but the Spaniard was unable to stop Manchester City from winning 4-3.

Both sides had played goalless after regulation time and extra time.
