Roy Keane has asked Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to ‘shut up’ and stop getting distracted by listening to those criticising him.
Man United have been criticised in recent weeks for their style of play, and Jose said he would leave it to them to analyse his side’s 2-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League.
Mourinho made a ‘shushing’ gesture following his side’s 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday, and he sent a message to critics to ‘relax and stay calm’ after the win.
The Old Trafford club have only lost one game so far this season and they maintain a 100% record in the Champions League. However, the Portuguese tactician’s comments have created a mild negative atmosphere at Old Trafford.
The former Chelsea manager is set to clash with his former club at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and Roy Keane has asked him to ‘shut up’ and focus on winning games.
Speaking to ITV (via Metro), Roy suggests he sees no reason the Portuguese manager shouldn’t focus on his job since he’s been paid hugely by Manchester United.
“So focus on your own job. Shut up and get on with your job.” Keane told Mourinho.
The former Real Madrid boss will hope critics won’t have much to say after the meeting with Chelsea this weekend.
