According to media reports from Italy, it seems all is set for Serie A giants AC Milan to improve on their squad as the team have set their eyes on signing Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas during the winter transfer window in the New Year.
This was revealed by Italian media portal calciomercato, the seven-time European champions have identified the 31-year-old as a potential signing.
Following injuries to Giacomo Bonaventura and Luca Borgia, the team is seeking midfield reinforcements for the players and also to boost their team list.
Spanish international player Cesc Fabregas has less than a year on his current Chelsea contract and is almost certain that the Blues won’t offer him a new deal upon the expiration of his contract.
With the possibility of being clubless at the end of his contract at Chelsea, transfer rumours linking him with a move to clubs like Arsenal and AC Milan have taken centre stage.
Fabregas has not enjoyed playing time at Stamford Bridge since new manager Maurizio Sarri took over the reins in the summer.
The quintet of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are ahead of him in the pecking order.
His situation under Sarri is in stark contrast to what’s obtainable under former manager Antonio Conte.
Fabregas was an integral part of the team that won the Premier League title and FA Cup title under Conte.
