Kalidou Koulibaly

It has been reported that Manchester United submitted a bid of about £80 million to have the services of defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Italian outfit Napoli but it was rejected.

Jose Mourinho has made defenders his top priority as he prepares to storm the winter transfer market which reopens in coming weeks.

The Portuguese manager will attribute part of the reason why his side had a slow start of the season to the poor defending by his players having failed to secure the signings of Tottenham man Toby Alderweireld and Leicester City defender Harry Maguire in the last summer.

Therefore the rejection of the $80 million offer from Manchester United was reported by La Repubblica or else, he would have been ready to move to the Old Trafford in coming weeks when the winter transfer window reopens.

However, it is reported that the reason why the United bid was rejected is because Napoli manager made it clear that he will only accept £89 million upward for Kalidou Koulibaly.

United are not alone in the race for Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly’s signature as it has been reported that Spanish giants, Real Madrid and Barcelona, German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are also seeking for his service.
