Champions League holders Real Madrid have made contact with unsettled Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi according to reports coming out of the media in Italy.

Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim that the Spanish La Liga giants have contacted the player’s agent about a possible move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

It was revealed that Real Madrid made contact with Mauro Icardi on Monday which was when new manager Zinedine Zidane was unveiled.

The French football legend returned to the club just eight months after he resigned from the position.

Zidane led the Los Merengues to three successive Champions League titles before leaving the role last summer.

Real Madrid are one of several clubs interested in Mauro Icardi who has not played for Inter Milan since he was dropped as the team’s skipper.

West London giants Chelsea have also been touted as a possible transfer destination for the Argentine international star.

The 25-year-old has an Inter Milan contract that does not expire until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The Italian Serie A duo of Napoli and Juventus are also keen on Mauro Icardi who was once on the books of clubs like Barcelona and Sampdoria.

It was revealed that Napoli have offered him annual wages of €9m plus €2m in bonuses.
