Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has stayed coy on the opportunity of the side swooping for Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez in the winter transfer window.
The tactician didn’t have the best of New Year’s Eve, as aside from having his team’s 18-match winning streak end after their goalless draw with Crystal Palace, he lost Brazilian Gabriel Jesus and Belgian Kevin De Bruyne to injury.
Considering Jesus was seen crying as he left the field of play with reports afterwards suggesting that he will be out for a long time, the pressure will be on Argentine Sergio Aguero to take the responsibility and perform consistently to ensure that the Etihad club are still favourite to win a number of trophies this campaign.
However, considering the side are still favourite to win the quadruple, they’ll need more quality players and depth in that position, and so that’s where the transfer rumour emerged of a January move for Alexis Sanchez comes into force.
The City boss answered questions about the Chilean forward on Sunday, and although the Spaniard did not want to disclose too much, he refused to rule out the likelihood of the former Barcelona star arriving this January.
Alexis Sanchez will be free to leave at the conclusion of the campaign as his current deal with Arsenal is set to run out in the summer.
