Arsene Wenger has made it categorically clear that he wishes to prevent losing star striker Olivier Giroud in the next transfer window, but his representative could have other plans.
The France international striker has struggled to seal a regular shirt for Arsenal this term, with his challenge being made harder by the signing of compatriot Alexandre Lacazette this past summer.
In turn, Giroud, 31, has played 24 matches in all competitions, and while he played from the start in all six UEFA Europa League matches for Wenger’s team in the group stage of the continental competition and has scored seven goals during his time on the field of play, his lack of game time in the English top flight is a major worry as he has only managed two goals all season.
With the FIFA World Cup in Russia coming thick and fast, it’s no shock that he wants more playing time, and that is a worry the French tactician knows pretty well.
According to the Metro, Arsene Wenger wants the Frenchman to remain at the club until the season ends at least, but his representative, Michael Manuello, has stated clearly that while he hopes to avoid any controversy, it may not be as easy as that as a New Year exit could materialize.
