Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho says he told his Manchester United players to give their shirts to the fans because according to him, it’s “Christmas time”
After claiming the full points at The Hawthorns with a 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday, the delighted United boys handed their shirts to the thrilled travelling fans.
The victory represented their fourth successive victory, and this recently lifted the red devils to just three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand.
The Portuguese coach while speaking after the clash, explained that he told his players to give their shirts to the fans as a gesture of gratitude for their support.
“I told them to do that, [it’s] Christmas time,” he said.
“A shirt for a fan, coming direct from the game with sweat, means a lot.
“For them [United’s players], it is just another shirt that they would give to the kit man, or give to some friend, or they change with some West Bromwich Albion friends.
“I think to a fan it means a lot.
“It is a pity that not everyone can get one, but for the ones who get it, I think it is a great feeling.”
