Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is enjoying his new role under Maurizio Sarri despite widespread calls for him to return to his former position at the club.
The French World Cup winner has played in front of the back four for the entirety of his Chelsea career until Italian tactician Sarri was appointed the Blues boss last summer.
He has given Kante a more advanced role in midfield following the acquisition of Italian midfielder Jorginho from Napoli.
Jorginho followed Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea and he has been played in the same role that brought him success in Italy but he has been unable to replicate same in England.
In his pre-match thoughts ahead of the Carabao Cup final game with Premier League champions Manchester City via Goal, N’Golo Kante said that he’s happy with his role under Sarri.
The 27-year-old further revealed that he played a similar role earlier in his career in France.
Kante is happy to play anywhere for his manager.
The Frenchman played his normal role on Thursday night during the 3-0 Europa League last 32 first leg clash with Swedish club Malmo.
He played 76 minutes before being replaced by Jorginho who was booed by his own supporters.
Om Jorginho, N’Golo is adamant that he’s an important player for the team.
