Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said the defensive duo of Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian will remain at the club, according to reports.
The pair have been linked with moves out of Old Trafford following reports that they are been deemed surplus to requirement. Rojo was linked with a move to Everton or Fenerbahce, while Darmian is said to be on his way back to Italy.
However, reports in ESPN claim that Jose Mourinho has decided against offloading the defenders and wants them to remain at the club until the next January transfer window.
This comes after Manchester United were unable to lure any of their defensive targets during the last summer window, pointing to the fact that Mourinho might see them as a stop-gap solution for his side ahead of another transfer window.
However, it is unclear whether the players involved will remain at United, amid reports that Darmian is interested in the move away from Mourinho, due to his lack of games last season, Rojo has also fallen behind the pecking order at Old Trafford due to injuries. The Argentine may yet remain at United following reports that Everton might have cooled their interest after signing Yerry Mina from Barcelona, while Fenerbahce will only sign him on loan.
