Mourinho told not to bring prolific 29-year-old striker to Man United

According to Ray Wilkins, Romelu Lukaku’s match confidence could be affected if the club signs prolific forward Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window.

The Poland international striker has been linked heavily with a possible transfer to the English Premier League over the last campaign or so.

Prolific forward

The striker has netted 20 goals in 23 matches in the league to help Bayern Munich amass a 19-point lead on the table.

He has a poor relationship with the club board to open wide the possibility of a summer transfer away from the Bundesliga side.

As per reports, the former Borussia Dortmund striker wants to complete a summer departure following four campaigns at the Allianz Arena.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked strongly with a potential move for the Polish forward in the summer.

Return to shape of striker

Former United midfielder Ray Wilkins feels bringing in Lewandowski could negatively affect the balance of the team given the array of attacking options and Romelu Lukaku’s recent return to shape.

The former Everton man scored Manchester United’s equalizing goal before he assisted Jesse Lingard’s winning goal in a 2-1 victory over his former side last weekend.

Robert Lewandowski has netted 97 goals in 119 matches in the German Bundesliga during the past four seasons at the German Champions.
