Despite their impressive start to the season, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho still think it is actually possible for his side to finish this season outside the top-four in the English top flight.
The Old Trafford club finished sixth in the premier league last season which was Jose’s first season at the club, although he still managed to win the Europa League that brought the club a ticket for this season’s Champions League.
The former Chelsea boss ensured he invested wisely in his team during the summer transfer window by bringing in Romelu Lukaku (from Everton), Nemanja Matic (from Chelsea) and Victor Lindelof (from Benfica).
Lukaku and Matic have been able to add more quality to the Old Trafford squad this season, helping the club sit joint-top of the premier league with rivals Manchester City.
The red devils are yet to lose any game in the premier league so far, but they are also yet to face any of the other premier league bigger boys so far. And manager Jose Mourinho feels the strength of the competition could still mean his side can finish the term outside the top-four in the division.
Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record, the Portuguese tactician indicate that he isn’t getting carried away with his side’s current form, because it is yet to be known how things will eventually end.
“In England [starting the season with seven wins] doesn’t mean anything, not even that we will finish in the first four places.” he said.
