Croatia international Ivan Perisic was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer – but a deal couldn’t see the light of the day before the closure of the window.
Right now, manager Jose Mourinho has made known the reason he was keen on signing the Croat after his impressive performance for his country in their yesterday 2-1 win over England in the World Cup semi-final.
Ivan equalised in the 68th minute of the duel to drag Gareth Southgate’s men into the extra time, before opening the door for Mario Mandzukic winning goal.
And for the first time, Croatia will be playing in a World Cup final – on Sunday, against France.
Last year, Perisic was heavily linked with a move away from Inter Milan after he emerged as a target for the red devils, but a deal couldn’t materialise because Jose Mourinho’s side failed to match the £50 Million fee slapped on his head.
And speaking recently about the player, manager Mourinho hailed Perisic’s physical qualities and he claimed the Croatia international is a ‘unique winger’
According to the former Chelsea boss, Ivan is a winger that is ‘different from the others’.
Mourinho believes the player is not just fast and creative, but that he is also very ‘physical’ and ‘fantastic in the air’
